How do you honestly feel about alcoholics...?

A disease. A functional alcoholic? I feel that they are a disaster waiting to happen. Alcoholism is a progressive disease. I picture a man, but have known both male and female alcoholics. I also admire people that are recovering alcoholics, as I am a recovered addict of prescription drugs.
