Depends alot on the gun. An semi-auto will recoil less than a pump. If its properly positioned (not on the collar bone), I would agree with the previos answer, a medium strong punch with a boxing glove on. Also very dependent on your size and build. Recoil will be much less than a highpowered rifle, like a 30-06.
