Is Evangelical Lutheran a lot like the Catholic religion.?
I'm evangelical Lutheran and have been to a Catholic church. The Lutheran church was the first Protestant church to break off the Catholic church over 400 years ago. In some ways they are similar -- traditional sort of sermon, Christian, using the Bible, following Lent, communion, baptism, prayers, confirmation. But, the Lutherans are Protestant so they don't have a pope, they use the Protestant Bible, there is no confession in church only with God, no praying to the saints or the virgin Mary, no rosary beads. The evangelical Lutherans may use tracts like the Baptists to help people get saved too, while the Catholics don't use tracts.
