How can I teach my playful puppy to stay?

Puppies have short attention spans- make her sit, say "stay" and back up a foot or so, then wait 5-6 seconds. If she doesn't move to follow you, call her and praise. Repeat as many times as you'd like, with the eventual goal of increasing the distance and time "stayed".
